At Stork & Stitch, we believe that play has the power to teach some of life’s most important lessons long before children even realize they’re learning them.
When a child chooses a baby, gives them a name, dresses them, comforts them, cares for them, and promises to give them a loving home forever, it may look like "pretend play" to most people. But to us...it’s so much more than that.

We’re planting tiny seeds of compassion, respect, responsibility, tenderness, empathy, commitment, teamwork and love.

For our boys - we want nurturing to feel natural.
We want them to grow up knowing that gentleness and strength belong together. That caring for someone isn’t just “women’s work.” That being a good parent and partner means being present, patient, involved, affectionate, dependable, and willing to do the everyday work of caring for a family.
And someday, if they choose to become husbands, we hope they understand that loving someone is more than simply just saying the words...It’s showing up.
It’s respecting each other. being a team-player. Caring for the family you’ve built together. Taking responsibility. Choosing kindness always. and above all else...we want little boys to grow into men who understand that providing for a family isn’t only about what you can give to them financially - it’s also about what you can give to them emotionally, too.

& for our girls - we want to nurture those same qualities while also teaching something equally important: Their care has tremendous value, too.
We want them to grow up knowing that being loving, nurturing, loyal, compassionate, and devoted are beautiful qualities - and that their value, voice, dreams, sacrifices and contributions matter. To emphasize that the work they do inside a family and home matters. And that someday, if they choose a partner, they should love not only in words, but in respect, effort, consistency, partnership, safety, and action.

But perhaps most importantly, we don’t believe these lessons actually belong to boys or girls.

The importance of Adoption to us:

We also believe adoption carries a special kind of meaning. For many children, adoption is a part of their own story or the story of someone they love.
It can represent belonging, family, hope, resilience, and the beautiful truth that families are created through love and commitment.
Through our adoption experience, children are invited to explore what it means to welcome someone new, make room for them, and promise that they belong. They can practice the tenderness of receiving a new family member while also recognizing that every child (and person) deserves to feel wanted, valued, safe, and loved.

We want every child who walks through our doors to learn each side.
To know how to nurture - and how they deserve to be nurtured.
To know how to care for someone - and how they deserve to be cared for.
To understand responsibility while remaining grounded in their own worth.

Because today’s children will become tomorrow’s partners, parents, friends, caregivers, and families...and maybe raising a generation of kinder adults begins much earlier than we think.

Maybe it begins with a little boy gently rocking a teddy bear or baby doll...or a little girl confidently deciding what kind of home she wants to create for her new precious little addition. or perhaps, just a child learning that someone smaller is depending on them and looking up to them. Maybe it begins with taking a vow to love, protect, comfort, and care for their new forever friend., forever.
To them...it’s "play". To us...it’s practice for the kind of humans we hope they become.
